Streaming platform, Apple TV+ is teaming up with Robert Downy Jr. and Susan Downey’s production company Team Downey to produce a new detective TV series based on a true story.
The show is based on Lista’s Toronto Life Article ‘The Sting’ wherein a detective takes on decades-old cases to become a hero but it quickly spirals out of control when playacting cops, taxpayer resources and peculiar targets are added to the mix in an elaborate sting.
As per reports, Downey Jr. may join the series as a supporting character twenty years after he was last seen on TV in the show ‘Ally McBeal’ which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.
The show is Team Downey’s second detective drama after producing ‘Perry Mason’ for HBO. The production house has also dipped their toes in the DC universe by producing a Netflix series ‘Sweet Tooth’.
This new drama joins Apple TV+’s high-profile list of series including an upcoming series from Leonardo DiCaprio as part of his first look deal as well as ‘The Morning Show’, ‘Dickinson’ and ‘Servant’ among others.
