The Weekend is close at hand and we know that times are tough right now. You can use this spare time to take a break from the hectic schedule or continuous stress that you have been facing throughout the week and binge on some of these titles.
Army of The Dead – Netflix
This Zack Snyder venture was almost buried but with Netflix’s help it’s got a revival and excited is just an understatement to describe how the fans feel about it. Army of the Dead revolves around a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries take a huge risk and enter into the quarantine zone for what is the scariest and most daring heist ever.
Play Back – Aha
This movie is a unique experimental sci-fi film where Karthik who is an investigative journalist in 2019 talks to Sujhata who is from 1993 in an accidental cross-connection that connects both these people from different decades together. If you’re in for a unique subject then this may be just the film for you.
Out of Love Season 2 – Disney Plus Hotstar
Out Of Love is a gripping psychological thriller and highlights the toxic relationship. Meera and her son are enjoying a good life until Akarsh and Alia return in their life to wreak havoc and make things worse for as hard as you try revenge cannot be forgotten and people go to any limits to get it.
99 songs – Netflix
A beautiful musical drama that is the brainchild of A.R Rahman 99 songs will take you on a majestic journey that highlights the importance of music and love and how both of these things can break the barrier that is there in front of us. A musical drama by AR Rahman with his soulful and soothing tracks can be the perfect thing to cool of and chill out this weekend.
Another Round – Amazon Prime
Another Round is another highly talked about film that just came to Amazon Prime Video and it depicts an existential crisis that occurs later in life. It beautifully portrays all the melancholic aspects of life with alcohol being used as a unique symbol. The film neither demonises alcohol nor glorifies alcoholism and touches on some really good aspects of life with some excellent direction and even better acting.
Kala – Amazon Prime
While Kala may be a bloody and gruesome tale of Shaji who depicts what toxic masculinity in our society looks like it also sheds light on some of the finer nuances of animal cruelty if you look at it more carefully. Shaji who takes pride in his masculine features is set to go against a boy whose dog (Bau) is killed by him. This is a more dark and gory film and is recommended if you can withstand that level of violence and bloodshed but it also provides food for thought if you can see the subtext of it all.
Here are our recommendations for the weekend. do let us know if you have anything to add to it.
