August has been nothing short of a star-studded, blockbuster month, with theatres reopening in all parts of the country, barring a couple of states, most importantly Maharashtra. The month still saw the first Bollywood theatrical release post the second Covid wave, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bell Bottom’, which is trying to do the numbers at the box office and revive cinema theatres. At the very least, the brave decision by the filmmakers has inspired and motivated many more to follow suit.
As far as Indian OTT platforms are concerned, this month has seen quite a few offerings from all over the globe. While many of the streaming sites had plenty of popular releases, this month also saw the premiere of much-anticipated movies and shows across multiple languages.
