The Mammootty multi-starrer, Bheeshma Parvam, has finally dropped in theatres and the movie has gone on to break multiple Malayalam box office records, especially the 2022 ones, in less than a week. The Rs. 22 crore budget feature film dropped in theatres on 3rd March 2022, and during the 4-day weekend, the movie managed to cross Rs. 20 crores in earnings in India alone. From what we can understand, the movie seems to have made Rs. 44 crores (or something around that figure) around the globe; which means this movie has made the best weekend numbers for a Malayalam movie in 2022, officially beating the coming-of-age feature, Hridayam’s opening weekend numbers.
Similar to the recently released Malayalam film, Aaraattu, Beeshma Parvam is a mass entertainment thriller feature. However, where the Mohanlal starrer failed, the Mammootty action drama did not. In fact, according to the box office numbers, the latter mentioned Malayalam movie blew up all over and we expect the movie to cross the Rs. 50 crores mark by the end of this weekend. And from what we can see, Bheeshma Parvam will cross Hridayam’s earnings in the box office within a couple of weeks and when it does, it will be the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of the year.
With the way the trajectory of this film’s earnings seems to be indicating, it could also beat out last year’s highest-grossing film, Kurup, as well. However, for that, we will have to wait and see. And seeing how well this brilliant movie has done so far, we can’t wait to see how the Dulquer-Mammootty collaboration AKA Puzhu will turn out.
