The highly anticipated Marvel Superhero flick, ‘Black Widow‘, releases in theatres tomorrow, on 9th July 2021, worldwide. With one day to go, theatres in India struggle to stay open, with more than 50% of the country’s theatres under lockdown as per central and/or state government ruling. With time running out, it looks like we could be seeing a delayed release of the Marcel film in multiple parts of India, similar to what happened to Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe AKA The MCU has a huge fanbase in India, so many among them will be disappointed for not being able to see the film. The movie is expected to drop on Disney+ Hotstar for streaming in October, but by then, spoilers galore. It also doesn’t help that the ‘Loki’ series has to release one more episode and we could very well miss out on key details (when if the chances of that happening is unlikely) within this Universe.
This theatre issue, as many of you would know, is because of the second wave of the coronavirus that has taken the country by storm. We hope that we will be able to see this movie by the end of this month, but with the number of cases fluctuating badly and the recent emergence of a “third wave”, we find that unlikely to happen. Still, we should be able to watch the movie on the aforementioned OTT platform if theatres don’t open up in time. At least, the release date for that has also been pre-set as well.
