The teaser of Bridgerton is out. Releasing on the 25th of December on Netflix, this show will mark the entry of Shonda Rhimes into the world of Netflix. The show is set in the regency era in England and is remarkably set to give off the vibe. With Netflix and Shonda Rhimes joining hands, this show should be a success. We have been seeing a lot of colourful periodicals like Enola Holmes and even though it’s quirky and fun, the Netflix viewers are more used to gunfire, murderous, crime solving, and dark background movies and series. Bridgerton gives off a fresh, colourful vibe into such a world.
One’s first impression or at least my first impression from watching Bridgerton is that it reminded me of Gossip Girl a lot and the problem with it, is that we are way past the age of Gossip Girl. The settings, the dresses, the way of providing the scandalous reports, the visuals and everything in it looks really beautiful when it is presented in the way Shonda Rhimes did. It will for sure catch your eyes.
The 8 episode series is based on the series of novels of the same name by Julia Quinn, and this most definitely doesn’t look like a limited series affair to me. The story follows around the close-knit 8 siblings of the Bridgerton family that are trying to find love in this era. The show also surrounds mostly around the period when the competitive world of Regency High Society functions at its peak. The narrator of the show at this point is unknown, only that it publishes a newsletter that has all the scandalous events of the society listed there and everyone always gets a piece of it to read.
The show hasn’t shown much as of yet, just that it’s a period drama, scandalous and probably full of romance at certain points. The only hope of ray that it might be a good one is that it is coming from Shonda Rhimes and we have always got good things from her and she has never disappointed her fans.
This show more or less is riding high on the fact that it’s being produced by Shondaland and also that Netflix is distributing it.
