The second season of ‘The Family Man’ is days away from premiering on Amazon Prime Video and the wait is becoming more and more agonizing with each passing day. With the trailer controversy coming into play, the last couple of weeks, many have taken the “sabbatical route” from social media, keeping all eyes away from media and waiting for the much-beloved Indian spy series to drop, while others have gone for an exact opposite routine. Whatever the case may be, it will not stop Amazon Prime Video as they try to make this brilliant TV series as popular as ‘Game of Thrones’. Let us explain.
After the PR disaster that was Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Tandav’, and ‘Mirzapur’s’ “poor reception”, Amazon Prime Video took no chances and immediately took the second season of ‘The Family Man’ from its February release date. Wanting to keep their “baby” spotless and above reproach from various religious and political groups, the streaming platform scoured through the show and made the necessary changes required to air the show, hoping for no more high profile backlash.
That has obviously failed, but this kind of treatment by Amazon Prime Video shows how much they value this web series. The show is easily the most popular Indian web series currently running in India and around the world right now, and Amazon Prime Video wants to make such a show, “spotless” for the critics.
“GOT” was the last real TV show to make people wait for each episode in agony (although their second season of ‘The Boys’ did come close) and that is what we think Amazon Prime Video wants to do with this show. There hasn’t been any official confirmation on any kind of structured release to happen and we think the show will continue to follow its first season’s full season drop. But if it does follow an episode-a-week model, then we can definitely expect a huge rise in viewership as well as a huge spike of the series being mentioned on social media for a longer period of time. And we wouldn’t be surprised if they did so either.
The second season of ‘The Family Man‘ will release on June 4th 2021 on Amazon Prime Video. The first season of the show is currently streaming on the same platform.
