We are only 5 days away from the release of the highly anticipated second season ‘The Family Man’. This show grabbed our attention 2 years ago (Aaah.. The pre-covid days – simpler times), and we have been waiting for a second season ever since. We were supposed to get this second season months ago, but the ‘Tandav‘ controversy had Amazon Prime Video in a tizzy and now here we are. But it doesn’t matter much anymore, as we are so close to the second season, so as a way of celebrating this milestone (finally) – let’s take a look at five things you need to know before watching this second season. Spoiler-free, but if you haven’t watched season 1, you probably won’t understand much:
Cliffhanger
The series ended on a major cliffhanger last season and we haven’t seen two major characters in the trailer of the second season yet, which doesn’t bode well for them. But we still have at least 9 hours of entertainment to find out what happened to Zoya and Milind and give us some much-needed closure (if need be).
They still don’t know
Our main protagonist, Srikant, is an agent (and analyst) who works for the T.A.S.C., who keeps his job a secret from his family for their safety. And although for a few close calls, they haven’t found out about his actual job yet. But with too many close calls, it is only a matter of time before his wife and kids find out. They already have an idea that something is up already.
Stuck in a rut?
Srikant seems to have shifted careers according to the trailer of the second season. Now, if it is because he wanted out of the life of secrecy or if the actions of his previous mission ended up coming to bite him – we will have to wait and see. But it looks like he is stuck in a rut for now.
New antagonists
ISI remains the main antagonist of the series as far as we know, but now there is an inclusion of the remnants of Tamil rebels (fictional, we believe) from the previous Sri Lankan civil war, in this series. Samantha Akkineni will be joining the cast of the second season as one of the major villains as part of this group.
Controversy
You guys had to have seen this coming. The Tamil viewers, fans and the state Government will be keeping a close eye on the second season, if their motion to stop the series from airing fails (which we think will happen). And the depiction of the Eelam Tamils will play a huge role in the direction of the second season’s reception in the state.
The second season of ‘The Family Man‘ will premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The first season is currently streaming on said OTT platform.
