Just a few days back, we had made our readers aware that the Kannada language Indian film ‘777 Charlie’ starring Rakshit Shetty has made its well-deserved debut on the top 50 international narrative feature films list of 2022 on the Auckland-based movies-centric social platform Letterboxd. In yet another exciting update for Indian cinephiles, another Indian movie has just made its way to the Letterboxd list.
And the Indian film’s name is the recently released critically acclaimed period romantic drama ‘Sita Ramam’ which currently holds an impressive 37th rank on the Letterboxd list. This means that ‘Sita Ramam’ is ahead of ‘777 Charlie’, which is on Rank 47 as of now.
The coveted Letterboxd list has been topped by the widely acclaimed multiverse action flick ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. The list also includes S.S. Rajamouli’s epic actioner ‘RRR’ (Rank 2), ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (Rank 4), ‘The Batman’ (Rank 6), ‘Nope’ (Rank 10), ‘Vikram’ (Rank 12), and ‘Gargi’ (Rank 17), amongst others.
Coming back to ‘Sita Ramam’, the film has also garnered a highly impressive 96% positive feedback on the movie ticketing portal BookMyShow and has got an amazing user rating of 9/10 on IMDb.
Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, ‘Sita Ramam’ is a period romantic drama that is narrated in two timelines around two decades apart – 1964 and 1985. The story follows an orphaned Army man Lieutenant Ram (played by Dulquer Salmaan), who gets a mysterious love letter from a woman named Sita (Mrunal Thakur). But when he writes a letter to Sita, it does not reach her. Cut to 1985, a Pakistani student Afreen (Rashmika Mandanna) gets involved in Ram and Sita’s love story and sets out to deliver the long-lost letter. ‘Sita Ramam’ will stream on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform after completing its theatrical run.
