Dhanush made his directorial debut on 2017 with the much successful ‘Pa Paandi’. After this fans have been eagerly waiting for his next directorial venture. According to rumours the project has been discontinued from proceeding further due to some unforeseen reasons. However the makers recently stated that the film has been put on hold due to the actor’s busy schedule. He was shooting for director Vetrimaaran’s ‘Asuran’. Recent claims suggest that the project is back on track.
Said to be set in the pre-independence era, the film is tentatively titled as ‘DD2’, and is also said to be titled as ‘Naan Rudran’, but there are no official confirmation yet. The movie will star Dhanush alongside Telugu superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni and Indian actress Aditi Rao Hydari.
Financed by Thenandal Studios and touted to be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, the film also stars SJ Suryah, Sarathkumar, Srikanth in pivotal roles among others. Music is by Sean Roldan with Om Prakash and Prasanna GK handling the cinematography and editing respectively.
Last year Nagarjuna stated while talking about the film “It’s a period drama and this role is extra special to me because I’ve attempted something I’ve never done before. I play a character who goes 600 years back in time. It’s an interesting role.”
Currently Dhanush is busy shooting for his upcoming thriller, Naane Varuven. This suspense drama has been helmed by his brother and director Selvaragahavan. Last we’ve seen him onscreen with Karthick Naren’s directorial Maaran, which also featured Malavika Mohanan in the lead.
