Disney+ has decided to leverage the influence that Bollywood stars have over Indian audiences, to drum up excitement over its impending April 3 launch in India. It has got a bevy of Bollywood stars to endorse and tout the arrival of Disney’s streaming service in India.
Popular Bollywood stars Katrina Kaif, Varun Dhawan, Parineeti Chopra, Tiger Shroff and Sonam Kapoor have expressed their excitement on the launch of Disney+ in India by posting videos on their respective social media handles, announcing the launch of Disney+ in India. They have also shared what Disney has meant to them in their growing up years.
Sonam Kapoor said she’s always been a ‘Disney kid’ for as long as she can remember. Katrina Kaif shared that The Lion King was her favourite Disney movie, and that she was looking forward to watching the entire season of The Mandalorian.
All the aforementioned stars also invited their fans to tune into the Red Carpet event and premiere of Disney+ Hotstar on Thursday, 2nd April, at 6 pm. It is touted to be the biggest virtual premiere to be ever hosted in India. Fans will also be able to live chat with these stars at the time of the premiere.
Disney+ Hotstar launches in India, barely four days later than its original launch date, amidst speculations that the Coronavirus shutdown would lead to an indefinite delay in the arrival of Disney+ in India.
Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription plan is priced at Rs 399 per year. The Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription plan is priced at Rs 1,499 per year.
