Hold your horses because Disney+ is going to premiere a contemporary adaptation of Anna Sewell’s ‘Black Beauty’ later this year starring Kate Winslet and Mackenzie Foy!
The book which was originally set in the 19th century differs from the film as the latter is set in modern times and tell the story of Black Beauty, born in the American West who is captured and separated from her family until she meets a 17 year old girl, who is saddened by the loss of her parents too. They ultimately form a bond of love, trust and respect that eventually heals them too.
The film stars Kate Winslet voicing Black Beauty while Mackenzie Foy voicing the teenager, Jo Green along with Iain Glen and Claire Forlani.
‘Black Beauty’ has been written and directed by Ashley Avis and co-produced by Constantin Film and JB Pictures along with Moonlight Films.
The streaming platform, Disney+ has been on the lookout for fresh and original content to beat its peers Netflix and Amazon Prime in the content game. This film will attract a sizeable audience considering it stars Oscar winner Kate Winslet as the lead in a classic adaptation of the much loved story that’s sure to earn Disney+ some brownie points.
