Here it is, the theatrical trailer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s long-delayed Drive. One glimpse at it and it would be easy to understand why it took so long and is getting a Netflix release instead of arriving theatrically.
The basic premise seems to be heavily inspired by Hollywood movies. There is the unmistakable Fast And Furious movie vibes, but a lot of heist films are also taken as inspiration. The basic plot, despite multiple mixtures, still seems decent for a popcorn entertainer.
However, the real problem is the budget and visualisation. It doesn’t have that grand big-budget – big-screen spectacular vibe. It looks like a digital movie with cars and action. Maybe the final output was so disappointing that not enough money has been put in special effects. There is tackiness on display all the way.
It is more disappointing because of it being from director Tarun Mansukhani. He has had a sensational debut with Dostana. There is a hell of a lot of difference between these two flicks.
