“Dune” On Its Way To Takeover International Box Office!!

Ever since theatres have started to open up, it has been quite a task to get people to the theatres. The looming fear of Covid-19 is still persistent and only the solid movies are able to bring the fans out to theatres. This isn’t the case of just one or two countries. This is pretty much the same almost everywhere. Thankfully, there were some movies this year that were able to bring in enough to revive the International Box Office. Godzilla Vs. Kong became the first movie to become a success post-pandemic in the International Box Office, Tenet too was up there but only for a limited time. Now, bit by bit, everything is coming back to normalcy, and looks like another movie will take the International Box Office by storm now.

The movie we are talking about is Dune. Yes, the movie ever since its inception has been the talk of the town. Dune has been hugely anticipated by everyone for the brilliant story and the brilliant ensemble cast it possesses. Dune saw its grand opening at the Venice Film Festival, and that was its entry into the European Market. After the screening, the movie has been released in 24 international markets. Dune is yet to release in the U.S. and is scheduled for October 22nd release. But, even without a domestic release, Dune is performing exceptionally well.

Dune from 24 overseas markets has now collected a whopping $35.8 million. “Dune” ranked No. 1 in most of the international markets. It had the biggest turnout in Russia with $7.6 million from 2,100 screens, followed by France with $7.5 million from 892 screens. This was followed by Germany with $4.9 million from 900 screens and Italy with $2.6 million from 740 screens. Dune has ended up becoming the highest-grossing movie in Russia after the pandemic, which was much needed for the country’s box office. The same was the case with France and Italy.

Experts are expecting a lot more, once the movie is released in Asian markets too. They are highly interested to see how the movie does in one of the world’s biggest markets- China, where it will release on October 22, like most other Asian countries including India. Korea and Japan are other big contenders for the movie’s success in Asia. With such an amazing story, brilliant background scores by the legendary Hans Zimmer, and otherworldly visuals, Dune definitely is one movie that will set the International Box Office back on track.

As for the movie, Dune is based on the 1965 book of the same name, by Frank Herbert. Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve with a screenplay from Jon Spaihts. Dune stars an ensemble cast starring Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling, Sharon Duncan-Brester, and others.
