Dwayne Johnson, or as everyone calls him “The Rock” is probably one of Hollywood’s busiest actors at the moment. With tons of movies lined up for release already, he is still on signing spree and now he is all set for another brand new movie. DC’s upcoming animated feature “DC League of Super-Pets” is Johnson’s latest project and in it, he is all set to essay the role of Krypto.
To the well versed, Krypto is none other than Superman’s Super-Dog and in the upcoming animated movie, Dwayne Johnson is set to voice Krypto. The movie even before its assembled already has a release date as Warner Bros. are planning to release the movie next year on May 20.
The movie is set to be directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine will be joining him as the co-director. Along with The Rock joining the movie as the voice cast, his production company Seven Bucks Productions has also boarded the movie and will be producing it. Along with being the director for the movie, Jared Stern is also credited as the writer for the movie.
As far as the story of the movie goes, apparently there are plans to include Batman as well as Wonder Woman’s pets along with Krypto. They are set to take the center stage and save the world when their masters are off at work and it’s up to them to rescue the world. While the others aren’t mentioned, few publications have mentioned that Krypto will be teaming up with Super-Cat, which most definitely looks like Super Girl’s pet cat.
This will be the first time that Krypto makes an appearance in a DC movie. Although, he has already appeared in various other cartoons and cartoon films. Krypto was first introduced in the DC world in 1955 in the DC Comic “Adventure Comic”, in a Superboy story.
It is being stated that if the makers have gone forward with The Rock, it is possible they are looking to set up an ensemble filled with A-List stars. Right now, the only cast that’s out is Dwayne Johnson and the rest are being discussed at the moment.
Just like everywhere else, it looks like Johnson is making his mark in the DC Universe too, as this will be his second DC movie. He is already set to appear in DC’s upcoming movie “Black Adam” as Black Adam himself.
