Esha Deol has been on the news recently for quite a lot of reasons. There are all kinds of new things piled up for Esha Deol as she returns to films once again. This time, it would be different as Esha Deol also turns producer with her new production company. Besides that, Esha Deol is also making her web series debut with Ajay Devgn for Hotstar’s upcoming “Rudra: The Edge of Darkness”.
As all these are going on, Esha Deol returns to films with a brilliant new movie titled, “Ek Duaa”. The movie will be streaming on Voot Select, for the streamer’s occasion of “Voot Select Film Fest”. The movie is set to release on the 26th of July and is directed by Ram Kamal Mukherjee, and produced by Esha Deol, under her banner “Bharat Esha Films”. The movie is co-produced by Venky’s and Assorted Films. Along with Esha Deol, the movie stars Barbiee Sharma and Rajveer Ankur in lead roles.
The streaming platform on Monday dropped the trailer for the upcoming movie. The movie follows the story of Abida, who is struggling to make ends meet. Her husband is a cab driver and is frustrated with the life that is in front of him, due to the lack of money. Amongst all these are their children, a son and a little daughter named Duaa.
Just like every other family in this country, Abida’s is no different. Her mother-in-law constantly asks for another son, so that there can be one more earning member in the family. Duaa is left on the side, with the explanation that she is a girl. Abida on the other hand, tries hard so that her daughter gets the love that is showered on every other child. The movie is about promoting gender equality and sharing love equally with every kid of the household, it is about breaking stereotypes in orthodox Indian families. The movie is made to make people rethink the way; they behave with kids, depending on their gender.
The theme of the movie is not new; it is a tried and tested genre in the Indian film industry. The only thing to look out for here is how well the story is delivered and how well the story resonates with the viewers. Will Abida’s battle for getting the deserved love for her daughter work, well the movie will be the answer to the question.
