Netflix has cast its net to catch the best fish for its next production – a dream cast of Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett (who massively impressed in HBO’s Lovecraft Country recently). The trio will headline Netflix’s prestige project ‘Spiderhead’, directed by Joseph Kosinski. The movie is an adaptation of the short story by George Saunders of the same name, a part of his bestselling anthology, Tenth Of December.
Joseph Kosinski is at the moment directing Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, after which he will take up Spiderhead as his next film.
Kosinski will direct out of a script written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, writers of Zombieland and Deadpool. Eric Newman is producing the movie for Screen Arcade, as part of their first-look deal with Netflix. Chris Hemsworth is also one of the producers.
Spiderhead has a premise that is dark and foreboding. Set in the near future, it centers on the theme of using humans as living subjects for the testing of new medicinal drugs. Convicted prisoners are given the chance to get their sentences reduced if they agree to be used as medical subjects for diverse drugs. The story revolves around two such prisoners who are forced to grapple with their past when they are administered trial drugs with the ability to alter emotions.
No other information regarding the rest of the cast of Spiderhead is available as of now. Stay tuned to Binged.com for further details on Spiderhead on Netflix.
