Fahadh Faasil Brings Another “Anti-Hero” To Life In Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Malik’

Don’t let the title mislead you. The Malayalam film industry has been releasing multiple films featuring anti-heroes (even villains) as the main lead recently, the latest, most notable one being Tovino Thomas’s performance in ‘Kala’. Fahadh did play an anti-hero in another Amazon Prime Video project, ‘Joji’; then again the actor has been playing complex characters since his resurgence in South-Indian cinema. This time, he will be portraying a man who rises to prominence in his village and ends up being its designated leader. Check out the brilliant trailer at the end of the article, which dropped almost 24 hours ago.

Last year’s ‘Trance’ and 2017’s ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ are great examples of Fahadh’s anti-hero roles. So was his much earlier performance in the 2012 film ‘22 Female Kottayam’. The chameleon actor is well known for his ability to bring out his best performances while doing complex roles and we can’t wait to see him in this one. However, unlike most of his films, the “anti-hero” character in this movie, ‘Malik’ is a person loved by everyone in his village. This person stands up to the police and politicians for his village and is willing to eradicate corruption and help his fellow villagers in any way possible – including killing others.

The trailer of this upcoming movie ends with a bloodied face of Fahadh Faasil and that chilling scene is both disturbing and exciting enough to want us to check out this film. The movie will show us the rise of Sulaiman Malik (Fahadh’s character) from his childhood to middle age, starting from the late 60s to the present day.

The much anticipated ‘Malik’ will be released in a week, on 15th July 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
