MCU has done it again! This time, with their latest addition to the Disney Plus streaming services – ”The Falcon and the Winter Soldier“. We were still in the hangover of the just finished MCU-Disney combo content WandaVision, and boom..!! Steve Rogers’ old buddies dropped with another OTT bomb – The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, which went live on Disney+ on the 19th of March. And guess what – just two episodes in, and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier has already become the Number One show in the world. As per the data revealed recently by research and analytics firm, Parrot Analytics, the show has unseated previous holder ‘Attack On Titan’ as the most popular show on Earth.
It was evident that after the success of MCU films and the latest exploits of WandaVision, expectation and anticipation were sky high for this series, with most fans just waiting to see the future of the star-spangled shield which once belonged to Captain America. Given that Falcon, aka Sam Wilson, and the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky Barnes, are both extremely beloved characters from MCU, the fans broke the internet once it premiered. Within the opening weekend, it broke the previous viewership records held by the opening episode of WandaVision and the premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2.
Essentially MCU is bringing back quite a few previously featured characters such as Sharon Carter, Helmut Zemo, James Rhodes in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. But the biggest and most shocking new addition to the first episode was the new Captain America, John Walker, played by Wyatt Russell, son of Kurt Russell. Coincidentally, Kurt Russel has featured in the MCU before – in Guardians of Galaxy Vol.2, as the celestial, Ego.
Now, even if the new casting of Captain America met with a lot of criticism and mixed reactions in social media around the world, it’s safe to say that Marvel has again triggered something unusually cool with this new miniseries and it is getting the attention it deserves. Reportedly, the third episode, which will be aired on the 2nd of April, will be of a massive 54 minutes, and fans can’t keep calm.
The second episode ended with a hint of the introduction of Helmut Zemo, the antagonist of Captain America: Civil War. Fans are expecting a massive face-off between him and Captain America’s old buddies. Let’s see what The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 3 unfolds!
