Conceiving and presenting a well-rounded dark crime drama is not an easy task by any means. Those who wish to contradict this ‘fact’ might have to watch Sony Liv’s latest direct to OTT Telugu film, Family Drama. The film is about two psycho lunatic brothers just casually going around smoking weed, slitting throats, burying corpses in their backyard, and whatnot. All this for one solitary ancestral house.
One would only wonder how a promising and talented actor like Suhas, who scored a decent hit with Colour Photo last year would follow it up with a film like Family Drama. There is this big plot twist in the climax where the roles are reversed. In all fairness, those who’ve watched the film till the end wouldn’t be expecting an organic climax portion. The reason being the preposterous narrative through the course of the film. But no matter how low your expectations are, the end portion and the plot twist will make you jump out of the seat and roam around like a headless chicken. The utterly disgusting twist, the cringeworthy reaction shots, you name it, this film’s climax has it. This has to go down as the worst climax twist in recent times.
At a day and age when young filmmakers are presented with opportunities to roll out meaningful and enlightening content, it is sad to see the resources go in vein, like in the case of Family Drama. SonyLiv has added another dud to its Telugu content library.
