Fans of digital content have been consistently pestering Amazon Prime Video for the past few days. And you’ll be surprised to know, it’s not for the still missing trailer for Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s hot property web show The Family Man. Though yes, fans have been hounding the streamer, as well as everyone associated with the show, to drop the trailer ASAP.
But the pestering that we are talking about is a happy one. Ever since the India Cricket Team overcame gazillion hurdles to win the historic test series of 2020 – 21 in Australia and retain the Border – Gavaskar Trophy, cricket and web series fans have been after Amazon Prime Video to do what they did for the Australian Cricket Team – make a documentary along the lines of ‘The Test’, Amazon’s hit series on the Australian Cricket Team.
Fans want the streamer to create a documentary series that will document the travails of the Indian Cricket team Down Under, and depict how the courageous men conquered setbacks and hurdles to ultimately emerge triumphant in the series with a 2-1 scorecard.
Everyone will agree that the just concluded India – Australia test series was a gripper from the word go. The twists, turns and tensions that were a part of the series can better any thriller web series on OTT. The behind the scenes preparations, the dressing room discussions and the talks between Captain Ajinkya Rahane and the rest of the players will certainly make for interesting viewing.
Add to it the injuries and sitting out of 11 mainstream players, Cheteshwar Pujara’s stoic control at the crease, the racism row, the surprise test debuts of net bowlers Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar — and Amazon Prime Video’s got enough gripping content to cram into multiple seasons of ‘The Test – India’. See what we did there – we even gave this version a name!
Now that’s an idea worth acting upon, Amazon Prime Video, what say?
