Feeling Blue? We Are Here To Cheer You Up With Top 7 Animated Delights

What makes us feel like a kid all over again? What shows take us to our childhood? What contents are the best to be refreshed? There is only one correct answer and that is ‘Animated movies’. Whenever we feel blue or whenever we feel traumatized or nostalgic, an animation film has the ability to change our state of mind in a moment. Therefore, here is the list of top seven animated films as per imdb (International Movie Database) rating and the good news is, all of them are available on the same OTT platform – Disney+ Hotstar Premium.

There you go,

7. Ratatouille (2007)

RatatouilleRatatouille, one of the most underrated animated films of this generation, is one of the most entertaining movies of all time. Set in Paris, the story revolves around a rat named Remy, who dreams of becoming a chef and tries to achieve his goal by forming an alliance with a Parisian restaurant’s garbage boy, Linguini. The film has an ensemble voice cast of Patton Oswalt as Remy, Lou Romano as Alfredo Linguini alongside Ian Holm, Janeane Garofalo, Peter O’Toole, Brian Dennehy, Peter Sohn and Brad Garrett. A winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, the film was voted one of the 100 greatest motion pictures of the 21st century.

6. Soul (2020)

SoulSoul is the newest animated film in the list being released in 2020 and one of the first Disney films to be released via OTT platforms. The first Pixar film to feature an African-American protagonist, the film revolves around Joe Gardner, a middle school music teacher who seeks to reunite his soul and his body after they accidentally separated, just before his big break as a jazz musician. Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score recipient, Soul features Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Graham Norton, Rachel House, Alice Braga and Richard Ayoade amongst others and it’s perfect watch for your Saturday mornings.

5. Finding Nemo (2003)

Finding NemoThe best-selling DVD title of all time, Finding Nemo is one of the greatest animated films ever made. This 2006 follows Marlin, a clown fish who embarks on a journey with a blue tang with short term memory loss named Dory to find his son Nemo who was captured by humans in Sydney, Australia and eventually reunites with Nemo against all adversities. Finding Nemo featuring Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, Alexander Gould, and Willem Dafoe, was the highest-grossing G-rated film of all time before Pixar’s own Toy Story 3 overtook it. Voted one of the 100 greatest motion pictures since 2000, this one is something you can watch anytime with your family.

4. Up (2009)

UpEmotionally speaking Up should have been higher in this list. We consider this as the best animated films of all time but you can also see and decide for yourself. A film which is an emotional roller coaster ride follows Carl, an elderly man who embarks on a journey to paradise falls, South America accompanied by a kid named Russell to own his late wife’s memory and to fulfill her dream. The film has dialogue-less sequences of around one minute which showcases the togetherness of Carl and his wife, Ellie till her death, incorporated with music which I bet, will bring tears to anyone who’s not heartless. Up is the second animated film in history to receive a nomination for Academy Award for Best Picture Beauty and the Beast.

3. Toy Story (1995)

toystoryyThe first installment of the legendary Toy Story franchise is also the highest rated one of the franchise. The success of Toy Story was so massive that it launched a multimedia franchise and a series of three sequels, starting with Toy Story 2. The film has an extremely talented voice cast including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Jim Varney, Annie Potts and R. Lee Ermey, amongst others. The plot of Toy Story revolves around an old-fashioned pull-string cowboy doll named Woody and an astronaut action figure, Buzz Light-year and their journey competing with the rivals for the affections of their owner, Andy Davis. It is still considered to be one of the best animated films ever made.

2. Coco (2017)

CocoOne of the best animated musicals on Mexican culture, revolves Coco around a story of Miguel, a little boy who in pursuit of his love for singing in spite of his family’s ban on music, stumbles into the Land of the Dead, where he learns about his great-great-grandfather who was a legendary singer. One of the most impactful films of 2017, Coco is also the winner of two Academy awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. This is a film which will force you to jump into a mesmerizing adventure with Miguel.

1. WALL-E (2008)

WALL-EMaybe Up and Finding Nemo should be higher in this list but no one should disagree that Wall-E should always be at the top of this list. The best animated film of all time, the story of WALL-E follows a solitary robot on a future, uninhabitable, deserted Earth, left to clean up garbage. However, he is visited by a probe sent by the starship Axiom, a robot called EVA, with whom he falls in love and pursues across the galaxy. The film uses animated reaction and expression instead of dialogues to showcase the interaction between Wall-E and EVA which is extremely fascinating. Considered the “Best Movie of the Decade” by Time Magazine, Wall-E is also a reminder that if we do not take care of our planet, in near future, Earth will not be a sustainable one. A must watch for every single cine-lover.

So folks, let us know what you think about our top 7 animated films. Now, what are you waiting for? Log on to Disney+ Hotstar and enjoy your weekend watching these refreshing animated delights.
