Few Things You Would Want To Know Before You Watch “Shershaah”!

We are now hours away from the release of Sidharth Malhotra’s epic war drama biopic “Shershaah”. Shershaah celebrates the life and sacrifice of one of the greatest soldiers of India Captain Vikram Batra. The movie will tell the story of sacrifice in the 1999 Kargil War and will show the various aspects of his life, that wasn’t known to the world earlier. The movie has been the talk of the town for quite some time and fans can’t wait any longer to watch this brilliant movie as soon as it drops.

But, before Shershaah today releases on Amazon Prime Video, here are a few things you should be aware of, or rather prepared to see in the movie.

Sidharth Malhotra

Well, first and foremost, this will be Sidharth Malhotra’s first-ever movie that will be based on a real-life hero. Sidharth Malhotra will be essaying the role of Captain Vikram Batra, and as a matter of fact, he has been the first choice ever since the movie was even thought about. Sidharth Malhotra, to be honest, has been a crucial part of the making of the movie and as far as reports and interviews go Sidharth has been the person Vikram Batra’s parents loved the moment they saw him. Knowing that he is the man essaying their son’s role, has made them happy because they believe he has the looks that reminded them of their son.

Real Cinematic Experience

The story for Shershaah was written by Sandeep Srivastava and is directed by Vishnuvardhan. Many might think that if a story is written and portrayed, it might not be the real story. But this is not the case for “Shershaah”. The movie has been written so well that everyone from Vikram Batra’s family has agreed to go ahead with the movie because they felt it was the right portrayal. Also besides this, director Vishnuvardhan has said that everything that will be shown in the movie and most specifically the battlefield and the love story, everything is true to its core. Every single thing that was shot for the battlefield scene has happened back in 1999 and it is the truest portrayal of the scenario.

An Eternal Love Story

Many who have been hearing about Shershaah, Captain Vikram Batra, and his upcoming biopic should know how important his love story was. Captain Vikram Batra and his fiancé Dimple Cheema, being essayed by Kiara Advani in the movie, had a love story that was straight out of Bollywood. The love story that they shared at that age and then Dimple Cheema’s decision of never marrying anyone in her life, and agreeing to spend her life as his widow is said to be the most remarkable decision one could have ever taken. To have found their soulmates within that little period they had with each other was the most iconic thing about their story. Besides, Captain Batra’s sacrifice is one of the most important things in the movie.

The Climax

In interviews and reports, it has been reportedly mentioned how important the climax is for the movie and how difficult it was for the climax to be shot. Scenes from the climax were shot in the actual places where all these happened, like for example the funeral of Captain Vikram Batra. Kiara Advani had mentioned that she will only be able to shoot it in one shot for that portion because it is one of the most highly emotional scenes in the movie. Even while the movie was being shot, everyone was teary-eyed and had tears rolling down their cheeks watching the scenes from the climax. If that is the case, then one can only imagine how emotional the scenes will be on the screens.

“Shershaah” Has Come A Long Way

Dharma Productions was not the first production house for “Shershaah”. It is said that the movie rights for Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic was with a different production house. Vishal Batra, Captain Vikram Batra’s brother, producer Shabeer Boxwala and Sidharth Malhotra were already onboard the movie. But for some reason, the movie was not able to take off. It was then, that Sidharth Malhotra revealed the production later moved to Dharma Productions and they instantly found Vishnuvardhan as the director for the movie. After planning and processing the movie for a long time, finally in 2018, it was revealed that “Shershaah” is finally under progress and will soon be ready for the audience. It was supposed to release in 2020, but pandemic pushed it and hence it was decided that the movie should go for an OTT release.

Keeping all this in mind and seeing how interesting it will be, we should now prepare ourselves to witness the movie that celebrates the story of one of India’s gems Captain Vikram Batra.
