It has been a roller coaster of a week for MCU, Marvel and Spider-Man fans in particular. We have been sitting on the news that we will likely not see a ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘ trailer at all, due to the number of spoilers it could have when Sony had a leak and an incomplete trailer for the film got leaked. Fast forward to today, the ‘No Way Home’ trailer has been officially released and has also beat the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ trailer with its amount of views. With multiple speculations and fan theories that are out there, here are 4 things that we know are happening in this upcoming film and why you should be excited about it:
The Aftermath
The identity of the youngest Avenger was leaked by Mysterio at the end of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and we are shown the aftermath of that reality. Peter is accused of killing Mysterio, destroying the Tower Bridge and owning crazy killer drones. We find out that his life has been torn apart with the whole world running for him and his loved ones. This is very reminiscent of Peter’s treatment in the Marvel comics as well. Although unpleasant, it will be kind of cool to see how he will interact with the other people in his life – like Flash Thompson, his teachers, etc.
Doc Oc is back
Although we strongly believe that the Alfred Molina portraying character will only pop up by the end of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ – who will serve as a villain in the next MCU film, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, the good news is that he is finally here. Even though it was confirmed that the character is coming back, it will be really good to finally see him on the big screen again.
Multiverse of Madness Incoming
Either the spell gets botched (Dr. Strange does for Peter) or the Loki duo manage to (re)create the multiverse at the same time, but one thing is for certain – the Multiverse is finally making its first appearance in the MCU. And we can’t wait.
Strange Dr. Strange
This might not be all that obvious but – No matter how you look at it, it is really out of character for Dr. Strange to help Peter by erasing the existence of Spider-Man’s existence from everybody’s memory. A man who has a strong moral compass, who once said that he would not give up the Time Stone to save anyone, now doing all this for one just one man? Absolutely reckless. Doesn’t make sense. Of course, there is the Mephisto rumour and many saying that he could be the new Tony Stark – creating problems in the MCU, which he will have to solve himself. What it may be, we should get context for it later, but for now, the situation is truly Strange.
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ will release in theatres around the globe on December 15th 2021.
