Merely a few hours after the spellbinding finale of ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier‘ was aired, news regarding the fourth instalment of the Captain America film franchise soon started circulating.
As per a report from a leading Hollywood publication, ‘Captain America 4’ is already in development by the man behind the blockbuster series ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ – Malcolm Spellman.
The news comes on the heels of an alleged rumour regarding Chris Evans reprising his role in a possible Captain America film. However, there was no confirmation by Marvel President Kevin Feige or from Evans himself regarding the word on the street.
On the contrary, Kevin Feige had previously stated regarding Evans’ comeback, “I rarely answer no to anything anymore because things are always surprising me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was dispelled rather quickly by the man himself”. Feige’s statement came after Chris Evans’ “News to me” Tweet while replying to his comeback rumours as Captain America.
Chris Evans had received widespread unanimous acclaim from Marvel enthusiasts after he debuted as the titular Marvel Comics character in the period superhero flick ‘Captain America: First Avenger’. It was the fifth film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film’s phenomenal commercial and critical success made Evans a bankable performer. The 2011 film was eventually followed by two lucrative sequels namely ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
Incidentally, Evans had previously appeared in another Marvel superhero flick ‘Fantastic Four’ (2005), where he had adeptly essayed the role of the (literally) fiery superhero Johnny Storm.
As per another report, it is being speculated that Anthony Mackie will likely reprise his role as Sam Wilson (which seems more credible).
While on the other hand, it cannot be blatantly denied that there could possibly be a separate project starring Chris Evans as Captain America despite his character’s apparent retirement in the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ finale.
Especially considering Marvel’s penchant for avant-garde and unanticipated treatment of its plotlines and its characters. However, that seems a bit improbable (and unconfirmed) in the present scenario.
Whereas, on the ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ front, conjectures about the second season of the smash hit show are only logical, particularly taking into account the show’s massive following and the multitude of possibilities in the wake of the season’s eclectic final episode.
You can now watch all episodes of ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ on Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform in India.
