Fantastic news for fans of the legendary filmmaker and the ‘Master of Suspense’ Alfred Hitchcock and for next-gen cinephiles who have heard of his unparalleled legacy. A remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1955 directorial film ‘To Catch a Thief’ is reportedly in the works at Paramount Studios.
As per a recent report by Deadline, ‘Wonder Woman’ actress Gal Gadot is set to co-produce and also star in the remake of the Academy Award-winning film. And Eileen Jones, who is known for her writing work in the series ‘Prodigal Son’, has been roped in to write the remake of ‘To Catch a Thief’.
The original classic thriller film ‘To Catch a Thief’ (1955) featured the debonair Golden Age Hollywood actor Cary Grant as a retired and reformed jewel thief John Robie living a lavish lifestyle at the French Riviera. John’s life takes an unexpected turn when a spate of high-profile thefts are committed by a copycat burglar using John’s trademark style. John must find the real culprit after the needle of suspicion is pointed towards him. The film also starred Grace Kelly in the role of an affluent heiress.
The precise plot details of the remake of ‘To Catch a Thief’ are currently not known. Gal Gadot is expected to essay one of the lead roles originally played by Grace Kelly (in case there is no gender swapping at script level). Also, the male lead actor is also not confirmed at this stage.
Israel-born actress Gal Gadot initially came into the global limelight after starring in the 2009 film ‘Fast and Furious’. She further cemented her international fandom through her portrayal as Wonder Woman in the DC film ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ followed by her solo superhero movie ‘Wonder Woman’ and its sequel ‘Wonder Woman 1984’.
Gal Gadot was last seen in Netflix’s superhit heist thriller flick ‘Red Notice’ alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds. Her forthcoming acting projects include ‘Death on the Nile’, ‘Heart of Stone’, and ‘Disney’s Snow White’ movie.
