After its grand theatrical release on 25th January, Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film ‘Pathaan’ is all guns blazing at the box office. The spy action thriller movie has already grossed over a whopping Rs.600 crores globally and seems to be in no mood to stop.
Compared to its massive box office figures and widespread audience appreciation, ‘Pathaan’ has not received a very good user rating on the globally renowned movies database portal IMDb. Currently, the movie holds just 6.8/10 IMDb user rating based on around 102k votes. However, the IMDb rating for ‘Pathaan’ cannot be trusted. Here’s why.
On IMDb, around 50% of the concerned users have given ‘Pathaan’ a rating of 10/10. On the contrary, around 23% of the concerned IMDb users have given the film the minimum possible rating of 1/10.
These percentages clearly indicate how polarized the IMDb user rating for ‘Pathaan’ is so far. Interestingly and importantly, the percentage values for these two highest and lowest scores come out to be around a significant 73%. And it does not require a genius to figure out that these 73% user ratings should mostly be excluded for ascertaining the correct rating for ‘Pathaan’.
We are not saying that the current 6.8/10 IMDb rating of ‘Pathaan’ is either less or more or equivalent to what the film deserves. We are just of the view that because of the aforementioned polarization of user ratings, the IMDb current net score for ‘Pathaan’ cannot be relied upon or cannot be considered to be commensurate with the film’s actual quality or entertainment quotient.
While it may be a fact that most Indian films which either have a big superstar or an Indian movie which has become a subject of some controversy may be exposed to many 10/10 and 1/10 IMDb user ratings. But we are only talking about ‘Pathaan’ here and we have already explained why we think the net IMDb user rating of ‘Pathaan’ cannot be trusted. Have you seen the film yet? What do you think about Pathaan’s current IMDb user rating?
