Netflix has roped in Jennifer Lopez once again for its upcoming film ‘The Mother’. Lopez will not only star in this action film but also co-produce it. Niki Caro, who helmed Disney’s ‘Mulan’, is in talks to direct the Netflix film ‘The Mother’.
As per Netflix, Lopez will essay the role of a deadly assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men. The screenplay for ‘The Mother’ will be written by Misha Green (‘Lovecraft Country’).
Other than Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith Thomas will produce for Nuyorican Productions, as well as Green, Benny Medina, and Roy Lee and Miri Yoon for Vertigo Entertainment. Catherine Hagedorn will be the executive producer for Netflix’s ‘The Mother’ while Courney Baxter will serve as its associate producer.
Earlier, Netflix had announced its collaboration with Jennifer Lopez for the adaptation of Isabella Maldonado’s novel ‘The Cipher’. Lopez will play the lead role of FBI agent Nina Guerrero in the film, who finds herself drawn into a serial killer’s case after he strategically posts complex codes and riddles online corresponding to recent murders in order to lure her into a cat and mouse chase.
