The Lineup For the 80th edition for the Venice Film Festival was revealed today. And the fest chief Alberto Barbera revealed that the program was already finalized before the SAG-AFTRA protests, and only one American film was lost due to it. Other American movies were already confirmed for the screening.
There is a very interesting line-up of highly anticipated films in the list. It includes Bradley Cooper’s next directorial feature ‘Maestro’. It will also star him in the lead role. Pablo Larrain’s movie ‘El Conde’ is there. And another great news is David Fincher’s ‘The Killer’ will also premiere here. David Fincher has a huge fanbase for his filmography and fans eagerly wait for his next masterpiece. All these movies will be premiering on Netflix.
Sofia Coppola makes her return to filmmaking with her vintage film ‘Priscilla’. It is an A24 movie. The Yorgos Lanthimos directorial ‘Poor Things’ starring Willem Dafoe, Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo is a wonderful sci-fi epic that is also in the list. Ferrari from Michael Mann is another entry. Ava DuVernay’s Origin becomes the first movie from an African American in Venezia80.
Luc Besson’s DogMan, Michael Franco’s Memory, and Oscar winning director Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s next directorial Evil Does Not Exist are other films that grace the festival.
Many movies have been taken out of the competition. Wes Anderson’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is one of them. Hit Man, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial are also films that did not make it. Woody Allen’s French-language Coup de Chance is out of the competition too. Roman Polanski’s ‘The Palace’ has been invited for a screening.
