Interesting Info on Who’s Playing Who in ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’

There are just a couple of days left for the release of the highly anticipated war film ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’. You might already know that the film is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war of 1971 and follows how bravely IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik reconstructed the Bhuj airbase with the help of 300 women. Now, let’s delve into the film’s principal characters that have been essayed by some mainstream Bollywood stars.

Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik (Played by Ajay Devgn)

In the film ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’, intense performer Ajay Devgn is playing the legendary central character of Vijay Karnik, who played a crucial role in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. When the Bhuj airstrip was destroyed by Pakistani bombers, the courageous IAF pilot Vijay Karnik re-constructed the airstrip within just three days with the help of 300 women from nearby areas.

Ranchordas Pagi (Played by Sanjay Dutt)

Ranchordas Pagi was born in 1901 in Gujarat and was recruited by the Indian Army as a scout. He helped the Indian Army gather critical information from the villages which were captured by Pakistani Army before the Indo-Pak 1971 war. He is also known for tracking down the position of a large number of enemy soldiers who were hiding in the darkness.

Ranchordas Pagi had passed away in the year 2013, which means that Sanjay Dutt’s character should remain alive in the movie. This will certainly be one of the most interesting characters in ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’.

Sunderben Jetha Madharparya (Played by Sonakshi Sinha)

‘Dabangg’ actress Sonakshi Sinha will be seen essaying the role of the real-life brave social worker Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, who convinced 299 women along with her to support the Indian Military forces in Bhuj during the 1971 war.

R K Nair (Played by Sharad Kelkar)

Sharad Kelkar plays one of the most important characters of Military Officer R K Nair in the ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India. In the film’s trailer, his character can be seen fighting in the boxing ring and then springs into action on the battlefield.

Heena Rahman (Played by Nora Fatehi)

Nora Fatehi is reportedly playing the multi-layered character of an Indian spy working undercover in Pakistan. The role was earlier supposed to be played by Parineeti Chopra.

Besides the above-mentioned mainstream Bollywood actors, some other important roles have been portrayed by Ammy Virk (as Flight Lieutenant Vikram Singh Baj Jethaaz), Pranitha Subhash (as Vijay Karnik’s wife Usha Karnik), Mahesh Shetty (as Vijay Karnik’s brother Vinod Karnik), and Navni Parihar (as Indira Gandhi).

‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ will start streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform from August 13 onwards.
