A few months back, Alt Balaji announced a reality show called Lock Upp. Needless to say, it recieved polarising opinions but that is obvious when Ekta Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut are in any project. What matters the most is the impact it leaves and Lock Upp is already a highly successful show.
The number of views it is getting is definitely a benchmark for other shows as unlike them, Lock Upp has garnered an immensely diverse set of audience and is far more gruesome than people thought it to be. In the pilot episode itself, people got a fair idea about how the content is going to be.
Regardless, Indian OTT has the habit of repeating a concept unless it gets stale. Alt Balaji’s latest venture might just prove exactly what we call as a trend-setter.
If people get hooked by the 24X7 telecast strategy and the uncensored then it might be the blood-taste for them. Ekta Kapoor produced highly celebrated film “The Dirty Picture” 10 years back and we are aware of the series of women centric films that followed.
Long story short, whatever Alt Balaji and MX Player is helming may prove out to be highly impactful in the future. Good for them, the initial responses are overwhelming for that.
