Is RRR Really Releasing On 7 January?

Even until a week ago, things looked a whole lot promising for Rajamouli, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan‘s RRR. The promotions were in full swing and the hype surrounding the film was reaching new highs every passing day. But things took a turn for the worse of late. Maharashtra government imposed the 50% seating capacity at cinema halls regulation and the Delhi government ordered theatre managements to seize operations till further notice.

With two key circuits in the Northern belt not fully functional, doubts are being raised about RRR‘s release plan. There is also a talk that the Hindi version distributor has asked the makers to postpone the release. But far too much has gone into the promotional campaign of RRR for the film to be postponed now.

The makers spent crores on the promotional events that were held through the course of December. All this will go in vain if RRR doesn’t release as per plan – 7th January. More importantly, the buyers will be facing a whole lot of financial pressure if RRR doesn’t release on 7th January. They had to wait for well over a year for the film’s release already and further postponement will only pile up the interests.

The alternative choice for team RRR is to release the film in theatres at every possible location and if that isn’t possible, then go for a direct to OTT release with the pay per view model. The film is slated for release in less than 10 days from now and backing down now isn’t a viable option.

The makers of RRR too have been affirming that the film’s release plan is not altered and it will indeed release on the 7th of January. But if the situation depletes further in the domestic and overseas, we might some radical changes in RRR’s release plan, which we pray doesn’t happen.
