It’s officially an ‘Annatthe’ Vs ‘Enemy’ Diwali 2021! This Diwali was to see a theatrical clash between three hugely anticipated Tamil films, being Silambarasan’s ‘Maanaadu’, Rajinikanth‘s ‘Annaatthe‘ and last to join the race, the Arya–Vishal starrer ‘Enemy‘. There was some buzz on the ground that one of the three big ticket releases would eventually get pushed from the scheduled release date, since they would definitely eat into each others’ profits. All attention was focused on which one of the three films it would be. In an unexpected development, we have learnt today that the first film to announce its Diwali release has been postponed to a later date.
Silambarasan‘s ‘Maanaadu‘ has now been pushed to avert the clash and will officially release on 25th November. The makers took to social media and sent out an official announcement earlier this morning. The political thriller that explores the concept of time loop, ‘Maanaadu’, sees a stellar ensemble cast comprising Simbu in the lead with SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles. The Venkat Prabhu directorial promises to be a power-packed entertainer with an intriguing premise, so it makes much sense to have a solo release or a better date in the least.
With both the scheduled releases, ‘Annaatthe’ and ‘Enemy’ having a strong buzz, it seems wise to push the release to a later date to avoid such a major clash. It would be unfortunate to let all films suffer, so this inevitable shift is being hailed as a smart move by the makers. Well, this means that this Diwali will be an action-packed festive season, with the out-and-out action thriller ‘Enemy’ and the action drama ‘Annaatthe’ that is said to be an emotional sibling saga. Both films are being promoted left, right and center on social media and it will be a close fight to see which one outshines the other. Regardless, viewers are surely in for a treat with this Diwali theatre bonanza!
