Apple TV+ has singed the order to adapt the famous 1964 children’s novel ‘Harriet The Spy’ by Louise Fitzhugh into an animated series. The show will join the list of children’s shows on the platform such as ‘Helpsters’, ‘Ghost Writer’ ‘Snoopy in Space’ and ‘Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth.’
Set in the 1960s New York, ‘Harriet The Spy’ is the story about an 11 year old girl, Harriet M. Welsch, who aspires to become a writer. She is fierce, adventurous and independent and takes up spying in order to improve her storytelling.
The role of Harriet will be played by Golden Globe and SAG nominee Elizabeth “Beanie” Feldstein (The Simpsons, Orange Is The New Black). While Emmy Award winner Jane Lynch (Glee, Criminal Minds) will be lending voice to the role of Ole Golly, Harriet’s no-nonsense nanny.
The series will be jointly executive produced by The Jim Henson Company, Rehab Entertainment and 2 Friends Entertainment while Titmouse Animation Studios will animate the series. Apple already has a long term deal with The Jim Henson Company.
