When you are making an action film that is one of the most anticipated projects of the year, the weight of expectations is an unnaturally heavy baggage. Yet somehow, Keanu Reeves and his director Chad Stahelski seem to have perfected the art of surprising action fans as of late. The trailer of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4‘ is out and it is everything one has hoped for and more. And as expected, the boogeyman aka Baba Yaga is back in all his glory.
As stated by the director, the fourth installment of the John Wick series will delve more into the mythology of the Continental and how the organization came to be. The trailer informs us of the change in management at the Continental and introduces us to Bill Skarsgård’s(It film series) villain, the Marquis de Gramont. John will have to fight Gramont in single combat to win his freedom. With well-choreographed gun-fu scenes and ever-beautiful cinematography, the film series just seems to be getting better with every film.
An impressive addition to the cast besides Skarsgård? The OG Ip man himself Donnie Yen. The film also stars Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown. Ian McShane reprises his role as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel.
‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ will be released in theatres worldwide on March 24, 2023. The movie will reportedly be followed by a fifth installment though not much details have been revealed yet. Besides the film, Reeves is also in talks to reprise his role as the master assassin in the upcoming spin-off film ‘Ballerina’ starring Ana de Armas.
Guns, swords, axes, assassins, and Keanu Reeves. The movie from the looks of the trailer is an action movie fan’s dream come true.
