This Week’s Top Foreign OTT Releases: Spiderhead & More

Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting foreign OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Ms. Marvel’, ‘Hustle’, ‘Peaky Blinders S6’, and ‘Intimacy’, to name a few.

Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up for release. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top foreign titles streaming on Indian OTT platforms from this week.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (Streaming on Netflix from 13th June)

It’s a direct sequel to Tom Holland’s solo Spider-Man movies namely ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’. The film’s underlying plot follows a botched-up magical spell by Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) while attempting to conceal Peter Parker’s secret identity as Spider-Man from the public. But Peter Parker must deal with the repercussions when the spell eventually results in various supervillains (Electro, Green Goblin, Sandman, The Lizard, and Doc Ock) from alternate realities somehow entering his universe.

Infinite Storm (Streaming on Zee5 from 14th June)

Based on a true story, the adventure film stars Naomi Watts as an experienced climber named Pam who encounters a terrible blizzard on her way back from Mount Washington. When she meets a mysterious stranger stranded on the mountain, Pam decides to help the man and herself back to safety by way of a perilous journey down the mountain.

Halftime (Streaming on Netflix from 14th June)

The documentary film is about the multi-talented singer, dancer, businesswoman and actress Jennifer Lopez. The film would give its viewers a sneak-peek into the life of the international superstar and would showcase the second half of her exciting career and how she became the global icon she is.

The Wrath of God (Streaming on Netflix from 15th June)

The Argentinian thriller movie revolves around a woman named Luciana, whose life spirals out of control following a mysterious maze of deaths of her close relatives. She begins to believe that a popular writer is somehow behind these deaths and she takes the help of a journalist to unearth the mystery.

Web of Make Believe: Death, Lies and the Internet (Streaming on Netflix from 15th June)

The six-part anthology docuseries narrates the stories of persons who become victims of digital deception and misinformation owing to the darker parts of the world wide web and its consequences thereto.

Parallel Mothers (Streaming on BookMyShow from 17th June)

The Oscar-nominated Spanish drama movie follows the story of two women Janis (Penelope Cruz) and Ana (Milena Smit) who meet in a hospital room. Coincidentally, both are single, had unplanned pregnancies and are about to give birth. Janis is middle-aged and excited while Ana is younger and nervous. During their conversation for a few hours before delivery, the two women form a unique bond which would affect their lives in an important way.

Spiderhead (Streaming on Netflix from 17th June)

The action-drama film has been helmed by Joseph Kosinski, whose recent directorial ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ became a huge blockbuster. The film’s plot is based on George Saunders’ short story ‘Escape from Spiderhead’ and is set in a near future prison where inmates are given a chance to reduce their sentences. They can do so by volunteering to be given mid-altering drugs under the supervision of the genius Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth). The story takes a turn after an inmate named Jeff becomes the test subject for a drug which can develop feelings of love.

Cha Cha Real Smooth (Streaming on Apple TV+ from 17th June)

The comedy drama movie features Cooper Raiff as a young graduate named Andrew, who knows how to get a party started. Matching his skills, he begins to work at a bar where he becomes friends with a young mother and her autistic daughter.

The Lake (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 17th June)

The plot follows a man named Justin (Jordan Gavaris), who returns from abroad with the intention of reconnecting with his teenage biological daughter whom he had earlier given for adoption. But the story takes an interesting turn when he discovers that his father has left their family cottage to his picture-perfect stepsister Maisy (Julia Stiles).
