Kang The Conqueror: MCU Phase Four’s Biggest Villain & F4 Introducer?!

If you guys are avid Marvel Comic fans like I am, then this title may be a little redundant. But many of our readers (and Marvel Cinematic Universe AKA MCU fans) are not, hence the title. If you guys didn’t know already, the season finale of the beloved Marvel fantasy web series ‘Loki’ dropped for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, almost half a day ago, so go check it out. The season finale drops a huge hint in the form of a new character – He Who Remains. However the character is not the hint, it is the actor who portrays said character – Jonathan Majors.

Jonathan Majors is supposed to be portraying Kang the Conqueror in the 2023 MCU Superhero film ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’. So it was surprising to see that the actor was playing a character called He Who Returns (HWR). However, similar to Kang’s backstory in the comics, HWR is a 31st century scientist from Earth. He discovered the multiverse in his time, at the same time as his other versions. While many versions of him (or variants) greeted each other and shared technology, there were a few who wanted to conquer the other timelines. After a huge war over the multiple timelines, HWR was the last variant left standing and he went on to create the TVA to control the timeline and stop variants from existing.

But after Sylvie killed HWR at the end of the season finale, the timelines have now branched out again and there are now multiple different timelines. And in one of the timelines, most likely the one where the main MCU story takes place, Kang the Conqueror is waiting – to take over the Universe, the multiverse and the various timelines. This backstory makes him even more dangerous than Thanos and we expect the Avengers to have an even bigger crisis when they face this villain in the future (Hopefully within the Phase Four of the MCU).

Another important detail about Kang, is that his real name is Nathaniel Richards. He is supposedly the descendent of Reed Richards AKA Mr. Fantastic, the leader of the Fantastic Four (F4). With the inclusion of multiple timelines, we expect a space anomaly to take place in outer-space in one of said timelines, which will go one to create the Fantastic Four. We are not fully sure about this part, so we will have to wait and see.
