Keegan-Michael Key Joins Timothée Chalamet For Willy “Wonka” Movie

Keegan-Michael Key Joins Timothée Chalamet For Willy “Wonka” Movie

Over the years, in cinema book adaptations have been something that has not only pulled avid book readers to the screens but also movie lovers alike. Roald Dahl, one of the most famous authors, and his supremely famous “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory” is one such book that has seen a lot of transformations. The book has been adapted several times in the form of movies and musicals. Now, this is again getting another adaptation in the form of “Wonka”. “Wonka” is supposed to be a tad bit different and from what buzz is around, it already looks super interesting.

“Wonka” had already announced its lead star. Timothée Chalamet will be essaying the lead role of Willy Wonka and now there’s one more addition to the film. Actor Keegan-Michael Key is the latest addition to the film. His role as of now is completely under the wraps, and given the type of movie “Wonka” will be, it is even hard to guess. Wonka will be a movie that will focus more on the famous chocolatier’s life. It will focus on his childhood, his influences, and what led him to become the owner of the mad and amazing Chocolate Factory.

Since the movie is set before the events of Charlie winning the Golden Ticket and getting to visit the Chocolate Factory, we won’t be seeing the young kids in the movie. The movie is supposed to be a musical and given what amazing performance Keegan Michael Key delivered in his last movie “Jingle Jangle”, we can guarantee this would be supremely amazing too. “Wonka” for sure would be one of a kind adaptation of the book, and not to mention Timothée Chalamet’s brilliance. Willy Wonka always looked like some whacked-up chocolatier but how that will be portrayed in the musical is a big thing.

Wonka will be directed by Paul King who is known for “Paddington” and its sequel. Harry Potter’s producer David Heyman will be producing the film. King has also written the screenplay of the movie with Simon Farnaby. Luke Kelly and Alexandra Derbyshire will also serve as producers while Michael Siegel will executive produce “Wonka”. The movie is set to begin its production in September this year. Wonka is set to release in theatres on March 17, 2023, and will be distributed by Warner Bros.
