Kunal Kapoor‘s murder mystery film Koi Jaane Na released on Amazon Prime Video on 27th May. Thriller fans were delighted as the approaching weekend was sorted for them. There was anyways nothing new for them to watch on OTT – the end of the month on streaming has been dominated mostly by romantic, family and political dramas.
Yet, just as they settled in to watch Koi Jaane Na, they realised that the film has been pulled out of the platform by Amazon Prime Video. Viewers who click on ‘Watch Now’ for Koi Jaane Na are greeted with the message – ‘This video is currently unavailable’. Scores of Amazon Prime Video subscribers have taken to Twitter to enquire of Amazon Prime Video about the unavailability of the film. Some have even complained that they were half-way through watching the film when it was simply yanked off the platform.
Each time, Amazon Prime Video’s support team has furnished the same reply –
“We’re sorry for the trouble you’re facing while streaming the title ‘Koi Jaane Na’. We are aware of this issue, and our teams are actively working on it. In this case, we request you to stay tuned to our website for more updates”.
There is no communication whatsoever from Amazon Prime Video regarding the reason why the film has suddenly disappeared from its platform. This is the second film to be yanked off by Amazon Prime Video without any proper reason given. Tovino Thomas’ edgy thriller film ‘Kala’ was similarly removed from Amazon Prime Video suddenly, though it was restored within a day. No such luck with Koi Jaane Na for viewers. The film is still unavailable on Amazon Prime Video after almost 24 hours of being pulled down.
Koi Jaane Na is directed by Amin Hajee and stars Kunal Kapoor and Amyra Dastur in lead roles. It is a serial killer murder mystery and psychological thriller. The film had released in cinemas on 26th March, just before the second phase of lockdowns.
