Vaishnav Tej and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Konda Polam hit the silver screens today. The film is touted to be a rustic drama and it is based on ‘Konda Polam’ novel. The Krish directorial opened to mixed reviews. Well, as it appears, Konda Polam team seems to have made a grave mistake. Wonder why? Here’s the story.
Not so long ago, it was heard that the makers of Konda Polam were planning to sell off the direct to digital rights of the film for an OTT platform and the film would be riding the OTT way. But following an interesting turn of events, the makers decided to release the film in theatres.
Interestingly, the makers of Konda Polam avoided USA premieres for the film. There weren’t any customary preview shows in Hyderabad either. Lack of confidence from the makers’ side could be cited as one of the main reasons behind the same.
Now that the film is out in theaters and garnered mixed reviews is implying that the makers committed a grave mistake by not selling off the film to an OTT platform.
Konda Polam, being an off beat film is better suited for OTT audience. Moreover, Telugu audience are not willing to step out to watch new releases in theatres in big numbers just yet. With so many factors in play, going ahead with theatrical release for a film like Konda Polam is not the brightest of ideas. Sadly, the makers of the film might to get to learn it the hard way.
