More than a year after its theatrical release, Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s ‘Lal Salaam’ has found its OTT partner after a long hiatus. The Tamil sports action drama will be available on Sun NXT on the occasion of Bakrid.
‘Lal Salaam’ follows the story of a reckless townman who tries to mend his thug ways and in the process ends up resurrecting himself and prove worthy to the world and also in the eyes of the same people who chased him away.
Cricket serves a central part of ‘Lal Salaam’ which performed poorly at the box office. Not just that, the film was a critical failure as well. The critics felt while the film had an important social message it did not do well when it came to the craft. There is a lack of effort which is conspicuous in the film that does not try to give anything novel or refreshing.
‘Lal Salaam’ was initially supposed to come to Netflix post theatrical run but due to certain unforeseen circumstances that did not happen. The streaming rights were later transferred to Sun NXT where the film will now start streaming from June 6 onwards.
It will be interesting to see how this delayed OTT release affects ‘Lal Salaam’. Will it reprise the excitement or is no one going to be interested in it after such long time?
Aishwarya Rajinikanth has written the screenplay and directs ‘Lal Salaam’ that star Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant in the lead with Rajinikanth making an extended cameo. The film also stars Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, K. S. Ravikumar, and Thambi Ramaiah. Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions, ‘Lal Salaam’ will be available on Sun NXT this June 6th, 2025.
