Ludo released to a successful opening on the streaming platform Netflix. Released on the 12th of November, the movie has an ensemble cast that will entertain you thoroughly throughout the movie. The movie has welcomed positive reviews from the critics, starting from Anupama Chopra of Film Companion to Shubhra Gupta of the Indian Express.
For anyone that has watched the movie during the weekend, they will definitely say that the movie is a must watch for everyone that wants a light hearted comedy but mind you, it will leave you bamboozled in certain scenes. The movie is quite long from the point of view of how long and short movies are nowadays, but that shouldn’t stop you from watching this stellar piece by Anurag Basu. The references made with the song that features in the movie, to the twists and turns of every single character and how all of them cross each other’s lives at some point of time in their race, just like the game of Ludo.
Just after a day of its release, Anurag Basu declared that there will be a sequel to this movie and he has paired up with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to make this sequel work again. But are we ready for another game of Ludo? The answer is “we still don’t know”. The movie is somewhat, one of a kind, it’s based on a game and how it is related to life which is fully executed throughout the movie. We aren’t sure whether we would be able to see another movie with the same concept.
Also, if the movie is released in the OTT platforms will it garner the same attention if it again follows the same story line? There are many aspects that make this movie unique and a unique one can be made only once and we know what happens to movies in the OTT platforms that have the same story and concept.
Well, now we can just wait, as to what the story will be and when and where will it be released. We just have to trust Anurag Basu’s way of telling stories and that might work out again.
