Mollywood’s upcoming contemporary flick Sumesh & Ramesh is expected to drop in theaters shortly. The film producers had initially decided to opt for an OTT release when their initial release date was scrapped and the Kerala state government didn’t allow theaters to open until the first of week January 2021. But now that the cinema halls have opened and since Sumesh & Ramesh was made for the theater audiences anyway, the production company decided to go forward with their initial plan for a theatrical release.
Sumesh & Ramesh is a contemporary film about two brothers. When one brother verbally abuses the other, the abusee returns the favour almost immediately. When one picks a physical fight, the other also fights back with equal fervour. They both live a happy-go-lucky life by playing cricket and chilling with their friends. In between these two, is their mother who also acts as the pillar of their family and their father just chills all day long. All four characters are unique, yet relatable and they are going to be the forefront focus of the movie.
Sreenath Bhasi portrays the older brother, Sumesh while Balu Varghese portrays the younger brother Ramesh. Praveena plays Usha, the mother of the “protagonist duo” while Salim Kumar plays their laid-back father. 2017 film Chunkzz’s writer Sanoop Thykoodam has written the script for Sumesh & Ramesh and will be directing the feature also. Balu Varghese had previously worked with Sanoop in the aforementioned movie Chunkzz.
The teaser trailer for Sumesh & Ramesh dropped back in March 2020, but its release got held up due to the nation-wide lockdown induced by the previously mentioned coronavirus pandemic. The 1-minute short teaser is funny and entertaining and gives us a present-day look at the “love between brothers”. Check out the teaser down below:
