The magnificent and much awaited teaser of Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ is finally here and it’s as epic as it gets. The multi starrer epic drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ will release in cinemas on 30th September, 2022 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Earlier in the day ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ teaser got leaked on net and has since been doing rounds but now it’s officially out has been launched in Hindi by Amitabh Bachchan, in Tamil by Surya, in Telugu by Mahesh Babu, in Kannada by Rakshit Shetty and in Malayalam by Mohanlal.
Coming to the teaser itself, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that fans who have been eagerly waiting for the film for a long time now couldn’t have asked for a better first glimpse of the movie. From breathtaking visuals of the great Cholan empire and its wars, ensuing rivalries and conspiracies to the madness of wine, song, blood and war taking over to forget everything and everyone, the teaser has it all.
Each and every scene is a lot to take in one go and we bet you got to rewatch it more than once to soak all the grandeur of this glorious teaser of an epic like ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’. Also it might give a little Game Of Thrones vibe to some.
Written, directed and co-produced by Mani Ratnam, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is the story of the early days of Arunmozhi Varman who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. The film is Ratnam’s dream project and has an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Lal, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Kishore and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.
Musical maestro A. R. Rahman will compose the music for the film. While Ravi Varman is handling the film’s cinematography, its editing is done by Sreekar Prasad. Allirajah Subaskaran via Lyca Productions is producing the magnum opus alongside Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. B. Jeyamohan has co-written the film.
Based on the eponymous 1955 novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, the first out of two parts, multi-starrer pan Indian film ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ will release in cinemas in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada on 30th September, 2022.
