Author Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is the most popular action hero character and the books that house the character of Jack Ryan are equally famous. That being said, the books have been adapted into movies and the character of Jack Ryan has been played by famous Hollywood actors like Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford, Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski. One of the most recent adaptations of Tom Clancy’s book “Without Remorse” came into news when Michael B. Jordan was rumoured to be playing an action hero in the movie adaptation.
News now are coming in that Michael B. Jordan is producing and also starring in the upcoming Jack Ryan action thriller, “Without Remorse” and to top it all the movie will be released digitally through Amazon Prime Video. The movie is slated to release on the streaming platform on the 30th of April, 2021. The movie also marks the addition of another “Ryanverse” movie to the streaming platform. Before this, the Amazon Prime Video already had its very own Jack Ryan series starring John Krasinski.
The movie will not directly include Jack Ryan, as Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse” explores the origin of one of the most frequently occurring characters “John Clark”. The movie will focus on the origin of John Clark just like in the book and Michael B. Jordan will be assessing the role of Clark in the movie. The movie shows Clark as an Elite Navy Seal who happens to unearth an international political conspiracy while he was set to avenge the death of his pregnant wife.
John Clark that also happens to go by the name of John Kelly loses his family as a Russian squad kills his pregnant wife. This was the result of retaliation for a secret operation Kelly undertook before. As Kelly sets out to find the killers of his wife, a fellow SEAL played by Jodie Turner-Smith and a CIA agent, played by Jamie Bell will join Kelly on this mission. Jamie Bell’s character will be shown as someone whose intentions of joining the mission are unclear and pretty shadowy.
The basic plot at this moment still revolves around the plotlines of the book of the same name, authored by Tom Clancy. This means that a US-Russia war might be shown and Kelly will be the one in a dilemma as to choosing between the loyalty towards his country or his personal vendetta. The actions already seem to be something that will be the highlight of the movie, apart from the plotline of course.
The movie is directed by Stefano Sollimo and stars Michael B. Jordan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell, Lauren London, Brett Gelman, Jacob Scipio, Jack Kesy, Colman Domingo, and Guy Pearce. The movie is the part of the deal between Amazon Prime Video and Michael B. Jordan’s production house Outlier Society. This particular deal was made to focus more on Amazon originals and bringing in more diverse filmmakers to the forefront to create something impactful and meaningful.
