A live adaptation for Stan Lee’s ‘Monkey Master’ is in the works, and it provides a good reason for Indians to be excited about. Monkey Master will be based on a series of unreleased comic book series created by Stan Lee and Graphic India co-founder and CEO Devarajan.
The story revolves around a New York-based archaeologist named Li Yong. He finds out about an ancient prophecy of the Chinese legend ‘The Monkey King,’ which brings him on a path to India, and a hidden power makes him a modern-day superhero. When films and franchises on the international scale have been talking about equal representation and showcasing different cultures through their projects, ‘Monkey Master’ can be the perfect opportunity for Indian and Chinese fans to get a large-scale superhero whose culture and values are closer to home.
Asia has always been a land of rich cultural heritage and a plethora of stories just waiting to be uncovered with some unique mythological characters and surroundings.
Stan Lee and Devarajan have also previously collaborated to make ‘Chakra: The Invincible.’ Stan Lee gave us many memorable characters and made our childhood even more lively, and will always remain an integral part of our lives due to the life lessons that were imparted by his characters.
Monkey Master is set to be produced by action filmmaker John Woo. He is extremely excited about the project and looks forward to working with Devarajan on this one. John Woo has amassed a crazy following for his action films like ‘Hard Boiled,’ ‘A Better Tomorrow,’ and ‘The Killer.’
A talented team backs the ‘Monkey Master’ project, which gets us even more excited.
