The Telugu film industry has come to a standstill like every other film industry in the country due to the COVID second wave. There have been many films going for direct OTT release in Hindi but Tollywood is resisting the trend until now. Only a very few small films are taking the direct online release route.
There are rumors that Akhil’s Most Eligible Bachelor may be the first big film that will skip its theatrical release. Geetha Arts which is bankrolling the film gave clarification regarding it without actually naming the movie. “There are no plans of releasing any of our films directly on OTT,” the statement read.
Akhil’s Most Eligible Bachelor, Gopichand’s Pakka Commercial (in association with UV Creations), Nikhil’s 18 Pages, and Untitled film of Allu Sirish are the films in various stages of production from Geetha Arts Compound. Except for Most Eligible Bachelor, none of the other films are ready for release. So obviously, the clarification is regarding Most Eligible Bachelor.
Most Eligible Bachelor has happening heroine Pooja Hegde as the heroine and is directed by Bommarillu fame Bhaskar. Akhil has pinned high hopes on the film after he ran into failures with all the three films he acted so far.
