Netflix Grabs World Rights For ‘The Disciple’, Chaitanya Tamhane’s Multi-Awarded Film!

Chaitanya Tamhane’s ‘The Disciple’, a film that made India proud at the world level with its multitude wins at various International Film Festivals last year will soon be available to viewers around the globe on Netflix, as the streaming giant has acquired the world rights for the film.

‘The Disciple’ chronicles the story of Sharad Nerulkar (Aditya Modak) who devotes his entire life to Indian classical music and diligently follows the traditions and discipline of old masters, his guru and his father. But as time passes he starts questioning his ways and whether it will be possible to achieve what he wants.

Written, directed and edited by Tamhane, ‘The Disciple’ is a continuation of his début film ‘Court’ that was screened in the Orizzonti (Horizons) category at Venice in 2016. Moreover, the film has been executive produced by four time Oscar winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron.

Winner of the prestigious FIPRESCI award among others at the 2020 Venice Film Festival, ‘The Disciple’ stars Aditya Modak, Arun Dravid, Sumitra Bhave, Deepika Bhide Bhagwat and Kiran Yadnyopavit. Vivek Gomber has produced the film.
