Sightless is coming up on Netflix on the 29th of December. Released in the month of September on the 29th, this is a psychological thriller like no other. It plays with not one’s mind but one’s senses and will make you doubt yourself for that matter, if the senses that we have will be ours or not. Madelaine Petsch who is known for her role as the infamous Cheryl Blossom in Riverdale plays the lead character here and it seems like she does one of a kind job as she acts as a person with a newfound disability.
The story follows the journey of Ellen, a violinist who recently went through an assault and as a result she undergoes a life altering change. She loses her sight as she remembers her eyes being sprayed with something. As she tries to recover, her brother staying in Japan helps her get a nurse from the recommended list and in comes Clayton who makes her believe that she can start a normal life besides losing her eyesight, she just has to try and let other senses of her work more now.
As her treatment and caretaking begins, she starts hearing noises as if it’s in her house itself later realising it’s all coming in from the vents that are interconnected with other houses in the apartments. She feels like her neighbour is being assaulted by her husband and gets to connect with and after that things start getting complicated as she faces another attack once again.
A crazy twist of events leads her to the realisation that someone close to her is behind the acts that she is going through and it will make you feel that the assault on her before is much less than what she went through after it.
Starring Madelaine Petsch, Alexander Koch and Deniz Akdeniz in the lead roles, the movie is directed by Cooper Karl. This is one of the most powerful characters Madelaine has played so far. The movie was earlier premiered in the Dances with Films Festivals, 2020. The movie is loosely based on the 2017 short film of the same name and by the same director.
