Megastar Chiranjeevi is working on the script of Malayalam Superhit, Lucifer for quite a while now. After testing two Telugu directors, he reportedly finalized Tamil Director Mohan Raja for the Remake Project. Mohan Raja is one director who is known for staying faithful to the Original Scripts. He had directed quite a good number of Telugu hits into Tamil.
Lucifer is available on Amazon Prime Video and Telugu people have watched it, Moreover, the popular belief is that the movie as it is would not suit Chiranjeevi. So if Mohan Raja works out the script as it is, it may not work in Telugu. So many feel it may be too risky for Chiranjeevi to attempt the film.
Another important topic to be noted here is the risk remake projects are carrying. OTT platforms have made films of all languages easily accessible to the audience. The Pandemic has ensured that people watch films of all languages. When the filmmakers decided to remake them, the audience is going to predict their fate even before the movie’s release.
Earlier, when a film is chosen to be remade, the filmmakers used to ensure that the dubbing version does not release in theaters. Even if they already released, they would not worry so much because of the less patronage of the dubbing films. But it is no longer the case now. At the same time, OTT releases can not be stopped because that would make remake rights costly.
